Edinburgh University Boat Club

Welcome to Edinburgh University Boat Club, one of the largest and most successful boat clubs in Scotland and the UK

EUBC is one of the oldest and largest sports clubs within the University of Edinburgh. The aim of our club is to promote the sport of rowing at the university, with the ultimate goal of allowing all club members to not only enjoy participating in the world’s oldest varsity sport, but to also be successful in competition at local, national and international levels.

The Boat Club has been a significant stepping stone to high international honours for many – Edinburgh rowers frequently represent Scotland at the Home International Regatta and former members have gone on to record success at World Championship and Olympic regattas, including Polly Swann and Katherine Grainger.

Membership not only gives students all the tools necessary for success on the water – from high quality equipment to dedicated coaches and training programmes – but also a lively calendar of social events throughout the year which gives our club a tightly-knit family feel, unusual in clubs of comparative size.

Former members frequently point to rowing at Edinburgh as one of the highlights of their time as a student. EUBC has, for over a century, provided something unique in student sport; a genuine opportunity to both follow a path all the way to the pinnacles of sporting achievement and also to become involved in one of the most exciting and friendly clubs at Edinburgh University.

The recreational rowing squad is a more relaxed squad that focuses on the fun and social aspects of rowing.  If you want to carry on rowing without all the morning starts then this is the squad for you!
